As someone who has been a resident of Oregon all of my adult life, I love our corner of the country. I’m Mike Bender and I spent 12 years working in the building products industry after college and another 10 as a proud owner in Portland’s thriving restaurant scene. During those years I learned much about customer service, building products and construction. Along the way I embraced my passion for restoring old things. A few classic vehicles and a few old Portland homes including the 1914 bungalow my wife and I call home. After a decade as a restaurant owner I knew I wanted to get back to building products and the construction industry. I got my foot back in the door working for the supply house of a large window manufacturer, but after a long year I realized I needed to own my own business again.
I witnessed the high pressure sales routines employed by the many companies selling home improvement jobs, so when I read about Zen Windows and their business model it was like a breath of fresh air. I instantly knew I wanted to be a Zen owner.
My goal is to put customers in the driver’s seat of their remodel, letting them decide exactly what they want and when they want to get it. I provide customers with as much information as needed to make an informed decision and I’m proud to offer windows made right here in the Pacific Northwest by The Coeur D’Alene Window Company.
